About

I have always been passionate about engaging with life in a very deep or abstract level. In this sense, it is only natural that my main artistic medium is the written word. For me, words are not only able to convey images and feelings, but also mental states that enhance the interaction between the reader (and also the writer) and the text. In my poetry, I like to play with the apparent divide between the mundane and the abstract or structural forces that operate at a larger scale.

Generally speaking, most of my poetry is grounded in my experience of this duality, sublimating the political into the very essence of life. Having grown-up throughout Latin-America, the cultures and stories of the region are very important for my work, emerging as battlegrounds where questions of Environmentalism and Postcolonialism are transposed into the spiritual domain, where paradoxes are inherent and identities are not constructed in opposition.

In the Netherlands, I completed a BA in International Relations and International Organizantion at the University of Groningen and MA in Literature, Society, and Culture at the University of Amsterdam, focused on French literature. It was during my Amsterdam years that I began focusing on my artistic path, performing music and poetry at different events.
